Shockingly, big names like DirecTV have been mired by several controversies of late regarding its many goof ups. Subscribers have charged the company against many issues the most common being misleading sales pitches and marketing strategies. Therefore, perhaps, the company has settled the charges by paying $13 million to Attorney Generals of 50 states of the US and has even agreed to compensate the grieved completely.

However, this doesn’t seem enough. Customers have been tricked and as a result they have lost faith in even big brands like DirecTV, as consumers are ultimate sufferers. According to Better Business Bureau, DirecTV enjoyed above 18 million customer base in America, but still it resorted to unethical means of trade practices. BBB has also clarified that the complex policies and hidden charges of satellite TV provider has led to many contractual issues and obligations for consumers. These charges have had negative impact on the minds of subscribers, who are now looking for some relief. So, in order to help out consumers and enabling them to keep away from these malpractices of satellite TV providers, Better Business Bureau has outlined certain guidelines for them.

BBB recommends that subscribers should be very carefully while signing up with satellite TV providers like DirecTV. They should ensure that they have properly read the terms and conditions of the contract. If you need time, then you should read it during your free time and then get back to the provider. Until you have committed to the company, it will follow you everywhere through SMSes, phone calls or through mails. So, no worries on losing out on any promotional offers!

Another big time problem is created with oral discussions and communication. Hence, BBB suggest that you should get everything in writing before taking any package. It also tells you to continually check your bills, for if there is any inaccuracy, you will spot it earlier and bring it to the notice of the company officials. If you keep a track of your bill, then you will be able to mark any unusual charges or credits to it. BBB also advises that you should mark significant dates of packages, installation and any other upgrades on a calendar, so that you are not fooled by the customer service representatives at any cost. Moreover, as soon as you find any discrepancy, or feel that there are some unfair dealings happening, you should immediately file a complaint with the BBB’s office. This will help you to settle any dispute with the satellite TV provider, because these companies respond quickly to the complaints lodged with the BBB. So, do follow these guidelines if you do not want to be misled by the scams of satellite TV providers like DirecTV.
