Apparently, satellite TV providers are having tough times in the United States of America. Surrounded by controversies, most of the satellite TV providers are finding it hard to regain their popularity as earlier. The obvious reason being all the goof ups and scams of DirecTV. Yes, a well known satellite TV provider in USA has created ripples for its malpractices. People are shocked to find a huge brand name like this one to evolve in such a demeanor. Really, this is pretty unanticipated for we generally expect scams and deceptions from smaller companies, not from a satellite TV giant – DirecTV!

Directv has staked its brand identity, popularity and name to make meager profits, which it could have easily earned otherwise, even with fair business practices. But it resorted to all kinds of mischievous activities and cheated on its customers, who blindly believed it. Why? Because it’s a long established company in California and has many credits in its kitty! How can any common man expect that this company would follow unethical trade practices, deceiving advertisements and dubious sales pitch to lure customers into signing up with its packages? However, this has turned out true.

El Segundo-based satellite television provider was ordered to pay millions of dollars in order to settle a 50-state lawsuit, which alleged that the company indulged into misleading business practices in a deal, which would bring huge cash for the company in return. Therefore, in order to cover multi-state Attorney Generals fee, it was ordered to pay a whopping $13.25 million, coupled with full restitution for subscribers, who feel that have been deceived since January 1, 2007.

So, if you are based in California and feel that you have been cheated, then you should immediately raise your voice against all these malpractices. Not just DirecTV, but it will serve as a lesson for other companies as well who are still in a mission to make huge money by deceiving public at large. So, it’s your right to lodge complaint with AGs and claim your restitution. In case, you are staying in other state, then you should contact the Attorney General of your state to find out whether you are eligible for compensation or not. Moreover, AGs and Better Business Bureau will also guide on how to be safe and secure while going into a commitment with DirecTV or any other satellite TV provider.

One such advice from BBB is to carefully read the terms and conditions of the contract before putting in your signature. This will certainly safeguard you. Yet another significant point to remember is to get things in writing from such providers, so that cannot fool you anytime. Moreover, you should keep a steady watch on your monthly card bills so that you immediately report any discrepancy therein to the customer care of the company.

So, don’t wait anymore if you are cheated. You can file the suit latest by June 9, 2011 to claim your refunds!
