A popular satellite TV provider in America,
DirecTV is facing quite a lot of problems in recent times. People are gradually losing interest in the provider. They are not willing to sign up with its different packages even after receiving many good promotions and deals. Many subscribers are even planning to shift to other competing provider. It seems that a lot of people are dissatisfied with this popular satellite TV giant for different reasons.
You must be wondering that what these reasons are. Why is it that this big satellite company is losing grounds to its competitors? Why people are are so irritated with this provider? If you Google the word DirecTV on Internet, you will be simply shocked to find out that a lot of complaints are coming up against this provider as opposed to its praises.
People have posted their issues and grievances in a number of ways on forums and sites to reveal the malpractices followed by DirecTV. They have alleged that the company has goofed up things and misled them in every way. Since 2007, people have disclosed that the company was using deceptive advertising, promotional offers and marketing strategies to lure consumers into contract. And once they are committed, the provider uses them for its advantages.
Not only this, even Better Business Bureau has also clarified that it had received 39,000 thousand grievances against the provider, which was really high. The complaints alone did not lead the company into paying compensation or a huge fine, but years long researches were conducted to find out the truth of the matter. And it was finally revealed that the provider was indulging into practices that were unfair and violated consumer norms as well.
According to Attorney Generals, the allegations against DirecTV involved:
• Not disclosing clearly the prices that consumers would pay and the duration of the contract;
• Not revealing clearly the limitations on getting a certain package by DirecTV
• Enrolling consumers into additional contracts without clearly divulging the terms of the contract;
• Enrolling consumers into supplementary contracts when they come to replace their defective equipment;
• Not disclosing clearly about the seasonal sports packages and its automatic renewal programs
• Dubious offers, when the company said it would give cash back, but actually added bill credits
So, it is clear that why so many people are opposing DirecTV and turning heads to other providers. Perhaps, they are pissed off with the provider for all its malpractices that have caused more harm to consumers than doing good.
